The main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has accused the sitting president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of transforming the respected heart surgeon into a ‘Galamsey’ kingpin to wit illegal mining don.
The Deputy Director of Communications for Ashanti Regional NDC, Kwaku Asaafo Agyei made this accusation speaking on Accra-based Power FM’s afternoon political discussion show.
He said the president has succeeded in transforming the revered heart surgeon into an illegal mining kingpin by making him the Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Fight Against ‘Galamsey’.
This is a gentleman who could remove the heart of a person and wash it and put it back into another person stating how Prof Frimpong Boateng was skillful in his field as a surgeon, he emphasized.
But now after the Galamsey debacle, people now refer to excavators as Prof Frimpong Boateng anytime they come into contact with it.
He explained that the president intensionally made Prof Frimpong Boateng, the Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Fight Against Galamsey in his first term of office to succeed in transforming him.
Now that the president has succeeded in transforming him, he has booted Prof Frimpong Boateng out of the government.
He noted it was under the auspices of Prof Frimpong Boateng as the Minister for Environment Science, Technology and Innovations that seized excavators developed wings and flew to an unidentified destination in the country.
To date the said ‘flying’ excavators have not been traced, adding that this is really the work of a man who has been transformed from his original profession.
He said that it was under the process of transforming Prof Frimpong Boateng from his trained profession into ‘Galamsey’ activities that supporters of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) pushed for the continuation of the illegal mining activities stating that the party needs funds to run its affairs.
So in view of this, party supporters must be allowed to continue with the illicit activities in the country, they contested in some heated debates on the radio.
