After five years in opposition, Ghana’s incumbent president, Akufo Addo, has challenged the NDC’s John Mahama to name at least one concept that has the potential to change the country’s destiny.
“I want you to think about one thing…what is the one policy that the NDC and its leader Mahama have thought about in these five years of opposition that they have brought to the people of Ghana…
Someone should provide me one proposal that has come out of the NDC in the last five years that will help Ghana progress. “The answer is zero…not a single suggestion,” remarked a giddy President Akufo-Addo.
The above-mentioned declaration was delivered by President Akufo-Addo during the NPP’s annual delegates conference in Kumasi on December 19, 2021.
President Akufo-Addo went on to say that when in opposition, his party detailed a series of interventions that it planned to implement once it took power.
He claimed that as a result of this, his government was able to jump right into implementing the flagship programs because it had previously thought them out in opposition.
“We thought about so many of the programs we brought when we were in opposition.” Free Senior High School, One District One Factory, One Village One Dam, the Digital Agenda…all of these iconic programs…we thought about them in opposition so that when we came into power, we were ready to implement them, which is why we were able to do them.”
