My office is still on lockdown – Gabby Otchere-Darko

Founder of Danquah Institute, Gabby Otchere Darko has said that his office is still on lockdown even though the ban on restrictions of movement has been lifted.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday, 19 April 2020 lifted the three-week partial lockdown in Greater Accra, Kasoa, Greater Kumasi and Tema citing achievements made with aggressive contact-tracing and enhanced testing capacities which have made it possible to contain the spread of the virus in the country despite 1,042 positive cases.

Gabby in a post on Twitter said it’s imperative for Ghanaians to be mindful about how they carry out their daily activities.

He stressed that his office is still under lockdown and advised persons who can work from home to do so in order to avoid the spread of the deadly disease.

“Accra’s partial lockdown has been lifted. But, my office has decided to go by the President’s advice to work from home because we can still get our work done and stay at home. If you do not need to be at work to work please work from home”.

Gabby’s statement received a lot of reactions from Twitter users with many attributing his tweet to politics.

Meanwhile, the opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) has also described president Akufo-Addo’s decision to lift the ban on the partial lockdown as premature.

“The lifting of the partial lockdown by President Akufo-Addo, at a time the country is witnessing astronomical increases in positive COVID-19 cases, particularly horizontal infections, is totally premature and lacks scientific basis.” A statement signed by the party’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, read.
