The embattled Asawasi Constituency Aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mubarick Masawudu has vowed to contest the Asawase seat as an independent candidate if the party prevents him from contesting the sitting Member of Parliament (MP), Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka.
Tension has been mounting in the Constituency after the NDC party opened nomination forms for parliamentary Aspirants but the candidate has been frustrated in the process
Masawudu could not file his nomination forms to challenge the incumbent at the party’s parliamentary primary.
In the raging confusion, the Ashanti Regional NDC office was also locked to prevent the candidate who suspects a covert operation in concert with the Regional Executives to yank him off the whole process from taking part.
But in an exclusive interview with Pure Fm’s Kwame Adinkra monitored by Ghanawish.com he revealed that he will contest the Asawase seat as independent candidate in the 2020 general elections if the party prevents him from contesting in the primaries.
“Kwame, I will listen to the voice of the delegates and the supporters of the NDC party and contest the Asawase seat as independent candidate. I will petition the authorities of the NDC party to address my concern but if still the party refuses to accept my nomination forms, I will contest as independent candidate. I will unseat the Asawasi MP and retain the seat for the NDC” he said.
According to Mubarick Masawudu, “I have the ability to mobilize the youth to vote massively for the NDC party in the 2020 elections”
