multiple cars knocked down hawkers at Dzowulu Junction; one feared dead

Some commuters and street hawkers along the N1 highway at the Dzorwulu junction faced an ill fate Tuesday morning when a truck loaded with cement blocks rammed into them.

The accident which involves about four cars has rendered dozens injured while one street hawker is feared dead.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the truck with registration number GT 9185 – 18 lost control of the brakes and plunged into a Fiesta Royale-branded mini van, a blue sprinter with the registration number GT 3466 – 14 and another mini van.

They explained that the driver of the truck who fortunately was not affected took to his heels after the incident.

As at 6:47 am, only officials from the Fiesta Royale Hotel and an MTTD officer was present at the scene. Eyewitnesses say no police officer had been sighted yet

Several items belonging to street hawkers were destroyed but as at the time, traffic flow was not affected.

Meanwhile, injured persons have since been transported for medical attention.
