The Member of Parliament for Mpohor Constituency in the Western Region, Mr. John Sanie has influenced the recruitment of 5 young men from the Mpohor Constituency into the Ghana Police Service.
According to a post on his Facebook page on Monday, June 21, Mr. Sanie made it known, one of his agendas as an MP was to find jobs for the youth in the Mpohor constituency hence, using his influence to facilitate their recruitment into the Service.
He said, ” More Jobs for the youth: The JOHN SANIE Agenda. Last Friday, 18-06-21, five gallant young men from the Mpohor District, namely: Messieurs Simon Inkoom (BOPP), Emmanuel Nyarko (Obrayebona), Godbless Agbasah (Mampong), Stephen Abekah (Tumantu) and Nabot Nyarko (Senteaw), successfully graduated from the Upper East Regional Police Training Schhol in Pwalugu to become full-fledged Police Officers. As always, I was filled with much joy and satisfaction, when the gentlemen and their families paid a courtesy call on me yesterday, 20-06-21, to show gratitude for having facilitated and supported their recruitment into the distinguished service. I was particularly super glad to know that Master Emmanuel Nyarko of Obrayebona received the best shooter award at the graduation ceremony. Gradually, we are fiercely tackling, and shall eventually eradicate the canker of youth unemployment from our society.

However, some Ghanaians were disappointed with the actions of the MP and shared their opinion on social media upon seeing the post as they believe, the act of police officers being recruited through the influence of politicians is a bad practice.
Some also made it known without the influence of a politician, it will be hardly for one to be recruited into the police service as they have tried many times and have been rejected because they were not recommended by a politician.
Also, they indicated that, police officers recruited on the merit of politicians will serve the interest of the politician and not the police service.
