Some media reports sighted by Ghanawish.com about a mother who beheaded her five-year-old daughter after the youngster asked for cereal has been jailed for life. Krystle Villanueva, 27, was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to spend the rest of her life behind bars on Thursday for the January 2017 killing of Giovanna Hernandez in Austin, Texas.
After stabbing the little girl to death and decapitating her, Villanueva dialed 911 and told the dispatcher she’d killed her daughter ‘because she asked for cereal.’
The child killer began the bloodbath by stabbing her father-in-law in an unprovoked attack from behind.
He managed to escape the house and called emergency services from outside.
A SWAT team rushed to Villanueva’s home in a bid to try and rescue Giovanna, and broke in to find the mother naked and freshly showered in her front room.
In a subsequent police interview, Villanueva claimed that ‘she had been under the delusional belief that her daughter and her father-in-law had been replaced by clones and had to be killed to bring back her real family members.’
The Austin American-Statesman reported that Villanueva had been found to be under the influence of weed and booze at the time of the killings. She had previously been treated for mental health issues, with doctors saying these had been related to substance abuse.
Investigators have since been unable to determine a possible motive for the horrific crime. Local police said after Giovanna’s murder that the crime was the worst they’d ever investigated. And Hays County Prosecutor Wes Mau said the killing had left his investigators badly scarred.
He explained: ‘A case like this leaves an unforgettable mark on everyone involved, especially the child’s family. ‘Every law enforcement member who worked on this case will forever be traumatized by what Ms Villanueva did to her innocent daughter. ‘I commend all the investigators and officers who endured this horror with calm professionalism so that justice could be done.’
