Morocco national team evacuated from Guinea following military coup

The FIFA World Cup qualifier game between Guinea and Morocco has been canceled after a military coup took place in Guinea’s capital of Conakry on Sunday.

The Morocco national team will be evacuated from the city due to the unsafe conditions in the city after the coup.

However, the Guinea team and their players – like Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita – will be remaining in the city until the situation calms down.

It’s been reported that the military troops took the streets of Conakry and Guinea’s President Alpha Conde was detained at his home – with the troops looking to dissolve his government.
