Ministry Of Education Awards Fresh Laptops Contract to KA Technologies

The Ministry of Education (MoE) of Ghana has awarded new laptops contract to KA Technologies despite the ongoing brouhaha surrounding the one teacher one laptop initiative.

Although there have been a public outroar by many teachers about how the previous contract were negotiated by GNAT, NAGRAT and the other teacher unions but that has not deterred the Ministry of Education from awarding fresh contract to the previous company, KA Technology.

A contract statement endorsed by the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Adutwum to the laptop manufacturing company on 13th December 2021, reveals that the contract has been awarded following Public Procurement Approval (PPA).

According to the statement, KA Technologies is expected to supply 80,000 pieces of laptops at total price of One Hundred and Twenty-Four Million Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 124,000,000.00) inclusive of VAT. Meanwhile, the unit price per laptop is GH¢ 1,550.

The laptops are expected to be delivered to regional education depots within 10 weeks from the day of contract signature in accordance with the specification in the agreed proposal.

The Ministry has however revealed that the contract will be cancelled if the terms and conditions are not adhered to.

“The delivery period will be strictly monitored. Non-compliance with the schedule of requirements will result in contract being cancelled”
