Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Richard Attah, has claimed six-time Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi, will struggle to break into the starting XI of the Ghana Premier League club.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper believes the squad depth of the Phobians is solid to compete for the 2020/21 Ghana Premier league, making it difficult for any player to break into, including Lionel Messi.
“For now, we have a solid 30-man squad at the club. So, any player that joins us will have to fight for a place. No player can easily break into the team”, he told Angel FM.
“Even Lionel Messi will struggle to get playing time at Hearts of Oak”, he proclaimed.
The former Elmina Sharks goalkeeper has been the number of Hearts of oak between the sticks in the truncated 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season.
C. K Akonnor handed Attah his first call-up to the Black Stars for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sudan, which was cancelled because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Attah missed out on the latest Black Stars squad list for the Mali and Qatar friendlies because of the inactivity of football in Ghana since March.
Attah is expected to play a key role for the Accra-based club as they set sights on ending the club’s trophy drought.
