The Greater Accra Regional Deputy Women Organizer of the New Patriotic Party ( NPP), Perpetual Asante Amoah says the potential of women in the party is threatened by the blackmailing and back-biting attitude on the part of some men.
According to her, women cannot chase their dreams in securing Government appointments because of some fabricated allegations leveled against them by some men in the party to deny them equal opportunities.
Perpetual Asante disclosed this when reacting to the progress of the Affirmative Action in Ghana as a bill is yet to be passed by Parliament.
She maintained that there is less than 5% representation of women in the Local Governance system which is a bias to the 40% Constitutional provision of Affirmative action.
She appealed to men in the NPP to stop attacking and blackmailing women when it comes to Appointments of Women fighting to head ministries and agencies.
Commenting on the delayed Passage of the Affirmative Action Bill she said, Government is on course to pass the bill but said the delay should not be blamed on the current NPP Government since past administrations since 1992 could not do anything about it.
She revealed that the reason why the women cannot bridge the gap with the men in Appointment is that, some of the women are not trusted and they become arrogant after securing appointments.
