The residents of Manso Asaaman in the Amansie West District of Ashanti have demonstrated against the authorities of the community for selling their reserved land to the Chinese galamseyers.
According to the aggrieved protestors who spoke to the media, they said , the reserved land has been purposely reserved for future generations and it is where the god’s of the land has been kept for long till today…….
Mr. Yaw Aduse Poku who stood on behalf of the residents said, ‘he don’t understand why The president of this country His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah has banned the galamsey operation but yet the Manso precisely Asaaman elders are adamant to sell lands to the so called Chinese galamseyer without informing the residents’
He described it as an unfortunate situation which they shouldn’t torelate such things in the district and the country at large……”
He added that, they don’t understand why they are in their own country suffering because of some people’s greediness but at the same time foreigners are enjoying,…he added.
As illegal mining has been banned from the country by Nana Addo led administration, they are calling for immediate intervention from the government and pleading to the King of Ashanti, Otumfour Osei Tutu II as a matter of urgency seize every activities going on in their land by the Chinese or any galamseyers for peace to prevail
