Manhyia repeal ban on Funeral celebration after Otumfour 20th Anniversary

The Manhyia Palace has abrogated the ban on funeral celebration in Kumasi in the post Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II 20th Anniversary.

“The ban has been lifted, now you can perform your funeral rites” Otumfuo Akobeahene, Nana Baffuor Kwame Kusi II has said.

The palace placed an embargo on all funeral activities last month ahead of the anniversary celebration.

Manhyia communicated earlier on that, the ban would be lifted on the 29th April 2019, however it happened.

The ‘Busumuru’ rite has been performed by the Asantehene to pave way for the ban’s annulment.

“Busumuru” is a rite performed to pacify the gods of Asante Kingdom ( Asanteman) in acceptance to lift up ban on funeral celebrations.

It’s invariably done by sacrificing a cow to appease the gods of Asante Kingdom (Asanteman).
