Man in military uniform arested for robbery in Suhum.

Police officers in Suhum have arrested a 25 year old man in a military uniform claiming to be an employee with the Army together with a taxi driver over extortion and robbery in the Eastern Region.

 

The suspects by named Solomon Acquah, alleged Army Civilian Employee and Prince Obeng, a driver were arrested on May 27. The arrest was made by the help of Sampson Adjei of Anum assisted by the Suhum Police District patrol team led by Chief Inspector Stephen Asare.

Solomon Adjei went to issue a report at the Suhum Police station that he was riding an unregistered Royal motorcycle. As he was moving towards a section of the road at the outskirts of Anum Apapam, he was stopped together with three other motor riders by the suspects who had blocked the road with a Daewoo Matrix taxi with registration number GG 376 -18 extorting various sums of money and foodstuffs from defaulters who ply the route.

The angry Okada riders became very suspicious hence mobilized to confront and challenge the authority of the self acclaimed military man and the taxi driver.

 

As the self acclaimed military man was sensing danger, he and the taxi driver sped off in their taxi as they were being chased by some Suhum residents . As they were on the chase and got to an overhead where the Police patrol team went, they were rescued from being lynched by the chasers.

They have been apprehended by the Police  investigations commence.
