Lockdown : shutdown trotro to avoid Drivers running at Lost – G.P.R.T.U Chairman urges Nana

The G.P.R.T.U CHAIRMAN at sofoline bus terminal in the kumasi metropolis has blamed Ghana police service over how they are intimidating drivers who loads at all Bus terminals.

According Chairman Albert Kwasi Boamah , police officers have mounted barriers at checkpoints inspecting drivers who will flout the laws which was implemented by the presidents over the Lockdown in the Ashanti Region.

He said that when ever the drivers at all terminals load passengers from the station and heading towards their final destination, when ever they get to a checkpoint then police will stop them and asked them to drop some of the passengers send others back to the terminals.

He lamented that it has become one of the challenges they are facing currently and any passenger who board the van wont pay until he or she get to their destination so if this will continue to happen, then Akuffo Addo should shutdown commercial transport operators so that they wont waste their fuels and run at lost too.

However, they have reduce the number of the passengers but still the price of fuel is where it is.

He further hinted that , if police will continue with this act of returning drivers back to where they picked up the passengers, then Nana should shutdown commercial transport operators now and after 14 days , they will resume.

He said that , govt and transport ministry hasn’t provide anything for them to fight COVID-19 at the bus terminals but they are using their own funds and if this is happening to them and it has resulted  for them running at lost then they wont operate again until the 2 weeks end!
