List Of Oldest African Presidents In Office

In Africa generally, grey hair is a symbol of wisdom and experience, which is why most of the leaders in the continent are aged men.

Below is a list of the oldest current African presidents.

1. Paul Biya (88 years)

First on the list is the president of Cameroon, Paul Biya. Biya was born on February 13, 1933 in Mvomeka’a, Ntem, French Cameron. This makes him 88 years of age and the oldest among black leaders.

2. Hage Geingob (80 years)

The Namibian president, Hage Geingob, was born in August 1941

3. Evaristo Carvalho (80 years)

Although sharing the same birth year as Geingob (1941), the president of Sao Tome and Principle, Evaristo Carvalho came behind because he was born in a later month, October.

4. Alassane Ouattara (79 years)

President Ouattara of Ivory Coast who has been in office since 2010 was born on the 1st of January 1942 in Dimboko.

5. Teodoro Nguema Mbasogo (79)

The next is Teodoro Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea. The former military officer was born on the 5th of June 1942 in Acocan, Equatorial Guinea.

6. Muhammadu Buhari (78 years)

The current Nigerian president was born on the 17th of December in Daura, Katsina state. He is in office for the second term having served as a ruler during a military regime between 1984 and 1985.

7. Nana Akufo-Addo (77 years)

The seventh is the president of Ghana. Nana has been president since 2017. He was born on the 29th of March 1944 in Accra, the nation’s capital.

8. Yoweri Museveni (77 years)

Born on the 15th of September 1944 in Ntungamo, the Ugandan president is the eighth on this list. Before attaining the presidency, Museveni was a senior military officer.
