The late Kwame Nkrumah would have been very mad with the current crop of leadership of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) if he were to be alive when Ghana celebrated its 59th independence anniversary.
This according to natural medicine researcher and Pan-Africanist, Oheneba Ntim Barima would have occurred due largely to the failure of the leadership of the party he founded and its spokespersons to defend his vision and heritage.
Oheneba speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ on Monday said Nkrumah would have particularly been disappointed in the two leading social commentators in the country who claim to belong to the CPP.
The two, he said are Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul-Malik Kweku Baako and Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr.
“I am sure Nkrumah would have been very angry if he were to be alive today…sure, he would have been mad because no one is defending him and his heritage, look at the NPP, they have always defended the Danquah-Busia-Dombbo tradition and the NDC also does same, but what does the CPP do, they speak for others,” he said.
He mentioned that unlike Kofi Baako, the father of Kweku Baako who wrote extensively to defend Kwame Nkrumah, the two are now communicating for other political parties at the expense of the CPP which they claim they belong.
“Am not sure Kweku Baajo speak for the CPP and neither does Kwesi Pratt and this wouldn’t have pleased Nkrumah,” he said.
Kweku Baako has been described in some time past to be a ‘cock with an elephant head’ which means that he has CPP roots but speaks for the NPP.
He is also on record as saying he has since the beginning of the 4th Republic always been voting for an NPP Presidential candidate and a CPP parliamentary aspirant.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr on the hand has been accused of being a Trojan horse in the CPP since he leans more towards the NDC.
A leading member of the CPP, Mrs Lucy Aning claimed he and a former Presidential candidate of the party, Abu Sakara are using Nkrumah’s name as a ‘holdmine’ to enrich themselves.
“Nkrumah’s name is a goldmine for Kwesi Pratt and Abu Sakara; they are now millionaires so they should leave the CPP alone…“Kwesi Pratt pretends to be a CPP member just to use Nkrumah’s name to beg for alms in Cuba and other socialist countries but I stress that he does not believe in Nkrumah’s ideologies” she is quoted as saying on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on 21st September, 2015.
Kwesi Pratt was also named as the government representative on the current board of the National Media Commission (NMC).
These commants has raised several eyebrows on the true leanings of the two.
