The Ghana Tourism Authority says is ready for an exciting fun-filled Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival this year.
According to the authority a number of activities which has been lined up to spice this year’s edition which has been dubbed by the authority as” Heritage Fun and Fly”.
Dozens of people including tourists are expected to grace this year’s celebration in this year of return which is being celebrated by the Tourism Ministry to promote Ghana and local content.
About 12 International experience pilots are expected to fly patrons this year with a few other locally trained pilots to fly solo when the paragliding officially opens this Friday.
In an interview with Citi News on preparations so far, the Eastern Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Frederick Adjei-Rudolph said all is set for this year’s celebration.
“Throughout the 13 years that we started paragliding the main issue has been the bad nature of the road from the Atibie junction to the Odweanoma mountain where the take-off point is. Luckily for us, work has started on the road, the last time I went there on Tuesday the road had been extended and widened and now two vehicles can move across each other conveniently without any challenges”.
He added, “the paragliding site itself just going to the food court is also being paved with blocks and I believe by the time we start the celebrations the art area will be paved. People are going to see new this on the road and at the grounds itself, in terms of food and beverage we are putting the place in a manner that there is going to be a well-coordinated selling of food and not just anyone selling what he or she likes”.
Mr Adjei-Rudolph also indicated that a host of superstars will be performing live in Kwahu.
“We are expecting 12 pilots this year and this three days will be a lot of fun because we will be organising a massive health walk and am reliably informed that a host of musicians will be performing live here in Kwahu. Is likely Kojo Antwi, Daddy Lumba, Samini, Sarkodie and others will be performing here in Kwahu and one of the biggest ever night clubs in West Africa the Rock City Night Club will be hosting other big stars.”
