Kumasi Central Market to be Re-opened Tomorrow-KMA

The Kumasi Central Market was closed down last Monday 6th April,2020 due to traders and buyers not adhering to strict social distancing as directed by the W.H.O as a way of not getting infected with Covid-19.

Officials of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly on deciding on the reopening of the market elaborated that market women who were allowed to come and trade in order to provide services to people in this period of lockdown made the place congested.People who are not supposed sell or trade there sent their items there to trade.This also will increase the rate at which people will be infected with the virus since social distancing serves as a tool for contacting Covid-19.

In taking measures for market women to be back on board,they have introduced the Colour Card System.This system would be done by sharing cards of different colors .i.e.Red,Yellow and Green to traders thereby allowing traders coming to the market in a rotatioal manner.Each colour consist of 1942 trader with all assorted commodities to satisfy buyers.They would be allowed to come back to the market on Thursday,9th April,2020.

This will enable people to comply with social distancing and help combact Covid-19.Heads of market or market queens are also charged to ensure strict supervision to devoid Intruders and all non-compliance at the market.People who are not allowed to trade on a particular day will be sacked when caught.By so doing,people will be able to get what they need and and combat Covid-19.
