Asante Kotoko have suspended winger Joseph Amoako indefinitely over an alleged leak of an audio clip in which he expressed displeasure at fans’ criticism of the players performance in recent games.
The 20-year-old has been suspended indefinitely while the club’s disciplinary procedures are underway.
A statement from Kotoko read, “Joseph Amoako, 20, has been suspended indefinitely pending a final determination through the club’s disciplinary procedures. This is due to his misconduct on social media which the club finds unacceptable.”
Amoako, who was on loan at Swedish club Helsingborgs IF, returned to Ghana earlier this year after being released from prison following a wrongful conviction of rape in Sweden.
The promising winger has struggled to make an impact since his return to his parent club, with limited playing time.

The leak of the audio clip has only added to his troubles, and it remains to be seen how the situation will play out.
The Porcupine Warriors have failed to impress, failing to reach the latter stages of the MTN FA Cup and are outside the top four in the league with four matches remaining.
