Asante Kotoko suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Libyan Club Al Ittihad Tripoli in an international friendly on Wednesday.
Coach David Duncan’s side could not match their counterparts as they tasted their first defeat in their preseason campaign.
Two first half goals by the Libyans was enough for the home team to secure a victory over their counterparts from Ghana.
Kotoko despite showing great signs in the early stages of the game had to concede their first goal after 19 minute following a strike from Tarhuni.
Al Ittihad however got a cushioning in the 31st minute after they were awarded a penalty kick which saw Abdelmouin Khamaj converting to give his side a 2 goal lead.
Kotoko in the second half lifted their game until they got a consolation through striker Obed Owusu.
The Ghanaians however pushed forward in search of the match-needed equalizer but could not capitalize on the few opportunities that came their way in the later part of the game.
The two sides will engage in another friendly on Friday
