Komfo Anokye Hospital Blocks IT System To Disallow Nurses Use Social Media At Work

Health Trainees

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s computer systems have been deactivated to prevent personnel from using social media during working hours.

It is understood this is aimed to keep employees focused on patient care and to improve the facility’s healthcare quality.

According to the hospital’s CEO, Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, the lives of patients who attend the facility, which functions as a referral hospital, cannot be compromised.

The CEO peaking addressing the department and division heads at the hospital’s end-of-year performance review conference in Kumasi said “they have blocked the [IT] system to YouTube and other social media platforms to prevent staff from possible loss of concentration on patient care through the use of such platforms.”
