KNUST Students Ordered To Vacate Campus By September 17th

The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council has ordered all students at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to vacate the campus by midday on Friday, September 17, 2021, with the exception of of foreign students and those granted permission by management.

According to the Security Council, it has received intelligence that some unruly students are planning to cause some disruptions on campus on the eve of vacation, thus the directive.

According to a statement signed by Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah, security personnel will be visible on the University Campus to ensure peace and security and to prevent any unruly behaviour by any group of students.

It reminded the student body that the declaration of the University Campus as a security zone in November 2018 is still in effect and that engaging in a demonstration exercise within the security zone is therefore illegal.

The Regional Security Council advised students to focus on their studies and finish their programs without being distracted.
