JUST IN: Newly Trained Teachers to Start Mandatory National Service in January 2020

Potential Newly Trained Teachers shall begin their mandatory National Service in January 2020.

The reason for this decision, according to the National Teaching Council (NTC) is to allow current newly trained teachers to complete their mandatory National Service in December this year.

Speaking with the leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG), the Deputy Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) ,
Mrs Gifty Oware confirmed that postings can only be done in January 2929.

Explaining her statement,the Deputy Director said the decision was due to the inability of the current newly trained teachers to complete their Service with other Tertiary Students.
She further indicated,potential newly trained teachers shall be posted immediately after their seniors were done with their Service in December.

A situation she indicated,shifted that of their juniors to January 2020.
A statement by the leadership of TTAG on May 8,2019 further indicated,that not withstanding,

Meanwhile,they shall be posted for National Service but would not be recognized by the National Teaching Council.
In addition,the National Teaching Council shall not recognize such persons for induction until
they are able to redeem themselves in subsequent Licensure Examinations.
