It’s Taboo For Men To Kneel Down To Propose – Pete Edochie

Veteran actor, Pete Edochie has disclosed that it is a taboo for an Igbo man to kneel down when proposing to a waman.

He indicated that it’s completely unacceptable and wrong in the Igbo tradition to kneel down in front of a woman.

The celebrated actor explained that when that happens it means, the man is handing over the authority to her, that is, she would become the head of the family.

In a video obtained by BrownGh.com, Edochie called on elders to correct the children of this generation who are following the western tradition.

He indicated that he did not kneel to propose to his wife, yet their marriage has lasted over 50 years now with no one ever settling disputes for him and his wife.

Pete Edochie, who has featured in over two hundred Nollywood movies added that marriage in the Igbo tradition is when a lady gives her husband-to-be wine while kneeling down, adding that this tradition signifies that the man has been accepted by the lady as her husband.
