Italian Community is Selling Abandoned Houses for Less Than ¢10, But Comes With A Catch.

No this wasn’t a clickbait. I know probably you might be thinking , I can’t even get a house in a Ghanaian village for less than gh¢20,000 , how much more in Italy, well as a content writer i know he wants us to click his article , hence that headline, but no.

It’s as if nature is reclaiming the place for animals . The name of the community anyways is Cinquefrondi, located in the Southern part of Calabria , and it’s closer to the beach , only 15minutes drive away from the local beach.

The houses are available for a very cheap price, this is largely due to the fact that the mayor wants to renovate the community. They aim to restore the town to it’s natural beauty.

The Catch

Prospective owners will have to pay €1 (90p) for the property and a further €250 (£224, Gh¢1650 )insurance policy annually until the property has been renovated.

The cost of refurbishing or renovating a building in Italy is calculated in terms of euros per square metre and in the city of Venice, for example, this can be as high as 1,400 euros and in Bari around 1,300 euros.

If the buyer doesnt complete their renovations within three years, they could be liable for a €20,000 (£18,000) fine.

So before you think of booking your next flight to Italy to purchase one of the houses , could you pay that fine ,which is around Gh¢ 132,660 , incase you are unable to renovate it within the given period .

Anyways this isn’t the first time an Italian community has sold houses cheaper for as less as €1. In 2019, CNN broke the news that a village in Sambuca , Southern Italy, is selling houses at that same amount with also the aim of renovating the village .

I almost forgot to add that , there is no coronavirus cases in the community selling that cheaper houses , according to the mayor of Cinquefrondi.
