IMMIGRATION SERVICE RECEIVES PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT FROM ADB

The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has donated Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and other sanitary wares to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to help combat the novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The items include, 15 veronica buckets, 150 pieces of nose masks, 144 bottles of hand sanitizers, 300 pieces of hand gloves, 60 rolls of paper towels and 120 bottles of liquid soap.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Immigration and Management of the GIS at the forecourt of the Head Office of ADB in Accra, the Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration (DCGI) in charge of Finance and Administration, Mrs. Judith Dzokoto-Lomoh, expressed gratitude to the Board and Management of ADB for the kind gesture and said the items would be sent to the border posts to augment the operational directives that had been put in place by the Service to fight the deadly virus.

She noted that the GIS would continue to make sure the borders remain closed and that it would protect the countrys frontiers from any importation of the coronavirus into the country.

The Managing Director of ADB, Dr. John Kofi Mensah who presented the items to the Service said he was optimistic that the items donated would go a long way to contribute to the countrys fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

As said by the President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, we are not in normal times and therefore calls on Ghanaians to adhere strictly to the health protocols of wearing nose mask, constantly washing hands with soap under running water, practicing social distancing, exercising and most importantly staying at home, if we have nothing to do in town, he noted.

The GIS is one of the few selected institution to benefit from these items PPEs, medical supplies and sanitary wares – valued at GH¢800,000.00.
