I’m Not Going Anywhere – Milovan Rajevac To GFA

Milovan Rajevac, the coach of Ghana’s national team, says his objective as coach is to get the team to the FIFA World Cup in 2022, and he is not ready to quit the squad until the task is done.

After failing to qualify the Black Stars to the knockout stages of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations following an embarrassing defeat to Comoros, the 68-year-old trainer has shrugged off resignation talks

Serbian gaffer Milovan Rajevac says he has an unfinished business with the West African nation and he will not tender a resignation letter to quit his job as the Black Stars head coach.

Ghana suffered a humiliating group-stage exit at the Africa Cup of Nations after the four-time champions were beaten by debutants Comoros in the final Group C game at the Roumde Adjia Stadium on Tuesday night.

“I’m not leaving. I want to stay and qualify Ghana to the World Cup,” Milovan Rajevac said after the 3-2 defeat to Comoros.

“We didn’t start the game against Comoros how we wanted and we conceded an early goal. It was a poor start for us and and then the red card to Andre Ayew changed everything.

“I think Comoros deserved this win because they played very well than us,”

The result in Group C will go down as one of the biggest shocks in Nations Cup history as Comoros scored at the finals for the first time and then went on to record a memorable maiden victory.

Rajevac led the Black Stars to the Nations Cup final in 2010 and the World Cup quarter-finals the same year, and guided the West Africans through to Africa’s play-offs for this year’s World Cup.

However, Ghana only won their qualifying group ahead of South Africa on goals scored and are unseeded for the play-off draw – where they will face one of Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Nigeria for a place in Qatar.
