The Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has made a statement which might really send anger down the spines of most Ghanaians.
In his recent comments about the building of the national cathedral, he stated that if Ghanaians do not build the National Cathedral the NPP government is about to construct, stones will rise and build it for God.
In a recent submission on ‘Eko si sen’ political talk show on Friday, Ken Ofori-Atta said that he finds it difficult to appreciate the criticism against the project over a ‘tiny land’ the government has given to build the cathedral.
He said:
“From 1957 to where God has brought us and the blessings He has given us and now a small land we are giving to God should rather be given to real estate agents? I get afraid. Because we are a Christian country, even if we don’t do it, the stones themselves will get up and do it.”
According to Ken Ofori-Atta, the National Cathedral will cost $100 million which the government will be financing 20 percent of the proposed cost.
