A two-bedroom nurses bungalow funded by the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama, for the Chache CHPS Compound has been commissioned.
At a short ceremony to hand over the facility to the Bole District Health Directorate on Sunday, November 22, Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi Constituency Alhaji Yussif Sulemana admonished the health directorate to facilitate the posting of a midwife to the health facility.
According to him, the gesture will curb the stress pregnant women go through travelling several kilometers from Chache to Bole to access health care.
Alhaji Yussif Sulemana appealed to the health directorate to adopt to preventive healthcare.
He assured them of the construction of the Chache-Bole road to open up economic activities.
“We will draw water from Chache through to Bole which will bring to an end the water crisis in the district.”
The Bole District Director of Health Service, David Bakura, revealed nurses who were hitherto posted to the facility refused such postings due to the accommodation challenge.
He is happy for the support from Engineers and Planners, stating it will solve the maternal health challenges of the facility.
“Like Oliver Twist, I want to ask other philanthropists in the District and beyond to support the directorate to renovate other dilapidated facilities in the district.”
For his part, the Officer in charge of the Chache CHPS Compound, Gordon Veldom, who has been sleeping at the dispensary for the past 3 years, narrates what he goes through as the only health personnel at the facility.
He appealed for means of transport.
