Dr Hanna Louisa Bissiw, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) National Women’s Organiser, has given notice that she will lead vigilante training ahead of the 2024 general elections.
She claimed that the government has failed to offer security not only to political opponents but to all citizens, and that it is past time for minority groups’ interests to be protected.
As a result, she claims that in 2024, she will personally oversee the training of political vigilantes to offer protection.
“Nobody should call us because it is about us,” the former Member of Parliament for Tano South Constituency cautioned.
On Monday, February 21, she gave this notice in an interview on Onua FM’s Pae Mu Ka.
‘Bird’s eye’ is a term used to describe the vision of a bird.
Dr Bissiw, speaking in Twi, said the vigilantes who will be trained will act as a “bird’s eye” for her party, ensuring that the ballots are protected in 2024.
The Vigilantism and Related Offences Act, Act 999, was introduced by Parliament in 2019 to abolish vigilante groups such as political vigilantes and landguards.
The Act makes it illegal for anybody to form, organize, or run a vigilante group.
Dr. Bissiw, on the other hand, remembered how state-sponsored agencies maimed and slaughtered members of her party in the name of election security.
“The administration is a vigilante government,” she stated emphatically.
