Popular singer, Patrick Okorie, better known as Patoranking, has said that the weirdest place he has ever got the inspiration for a song was on the football field. The ‘Heal the world’ crooner told The PUNCH, “I once got an idea for a song on the pitch while playing football,” he said.
On how he has been coping with the lockdown, Okorie said the period had taught him more innovative ways to make sure fans got his music. He added, “It is tough, even for me. I have more time on my hands to create and write, which is a good thing, but my earnings have been restricted to digital alone, just like everyone else. The beautiful part is one thinking of more innovative ways to make sure the fans get the music and ways one could be there for them at a time like this.”
Patoranking, who recently made the Forbes Africa 30 under 30 list, said he felt elated and humbled by the honour. “I feel elated, yet super humbled. It’s an urge to do more; not just a pat on the back,” he said.
On if he would advise artistes to venture into businesses outside showbiz, Patoranking noted that he was cautious about giving such advice. He said, “I am careful with such advice because what is good for the goose isn’t always good for the gander. However, if it’s a profitable venture I can vouch for— why not? Multiple streams of income are always welcome.”
The singer, who hails from Ebonyi State, also noted that the popularity of his song, ‘Available’ exceeded his expectations.
