I launched Free SHS in 2015 – Mahama

NDC Presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama has said that he was the one that started FREE SHS programme in 2015.

He said even though he was the one that started it, NPP who didn’t have a clue of how to run it implemented it poorly and that’s why they rushed to introduce double track system, “I assure you, my countrymen, that within one year, I will cancel the double track.”

“We started the programme and the NPP came and continued it. Unfortunately, the implementation has been very poor, and so it ended us in double track,” Mahama said.

Mahama said this on his 3-day tour of Ashanti Region as he campaigns to win more votes at the 2020 election come Dec. 7th.

He said when voted back into government, “All the community day schools we were building, 200 of them, we are going to finish them so that all the children can get schools to attend.

“With the Community Day Schools we are building, we are going to add dormitory blocks for girls and boys so that those who don’t come from the community where the school is sited if they choose that school and they are posted there, they will be able to get a decent place to live and learn.”

NDC has cemented this sayings by Mahama with a post on Twitter.

“A reminder that John Mahama earned UNESCO accolade for starting Free SHS in September, 2015 .

Next NDC government will improve quality, expand access and eliminate double track in secondary education by completing the remainder of abandoned E-Blocks and building more schools”
