‘I knew where Partey would aim his penalty’-Thibaut Courtois

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has bragged that he knew where Thomas Partey was going to place his penalty during the Spanish Super Cup final against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

Los Blancos won the Spanish Super Cup after beating local rivals Atletico Madrid 4-1 in a penalty shootout on Sunday at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

During the penalty shootout, Courtois made a firm stop to deny Thomas Partey and the Belgian shot-stopper has claimed that he knew where the Ghanaian would aim.

“I studied them on the bench,” he said when asked if he’d prepared ahead of the shootout.

“Saul surprised me a little, but I knew Thomas’ one clearly and I think I made a good save because he hit it hard.

“I’m very happy because it was another clean sheet and I made good saves.

“We had a good feeling coming into this tournament and now we return with an even better feeling.

“Now we face Sevilla, another tough opponent.”
