Ghanaian reggae artiste, Ras Kuuku has criticized the organisers of the recently held 3 Music Awards and that of the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) for sidelining him.
According to him, he could have been nominated in reggae, dancehall or gospel categories of the mentioned awards, but he was not given any nomination.
In an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM today, April 11, 2019, which was monitored by ghanawish.com Ras Kuuku said “They said they are awarding people who are hardworking artistes. When we say artistes are hardworking, who works more than Ras Kuuku? If it is not hatred or something, then I don’t know what I have done to them,” he bemoaned.
The “Wo” hitmaker thinks that awards expose the artiste to the rest of the world and cement one’s place in the music industry.
“It gives you the platform for you to be on top for the world to hear from you. We don’t just work, we work so that we get something out of it; we work to get fame and money,” he said.
Ras Kuuku added that awards are significant in the career of every artiste and should never be underestimated, hence the reason why many people spend huge sums of money to vote for their favorite artiste.
“If they know it’s not important, why do they take money for people to vote for the artistes…,” he asked
