‘Hypocritical’ NDC introduced Comprehensive Sexuality Education – Education Ministry

The Ministry of Education has disclosed that the Controversial Sexuality Education (CSE) was introduced in the country by the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

It says the CSE which was introduced in 2016 to be taught in schools was captured in teachers’ resource pack, a document it noted was signed by the former Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr Jacob Aaworb-Nang Maabobr Kor.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Mr Ekow Vincent Asafoa who disclosed this on Joy FM on Wednesday said the opposition is only being hypocritical about the matter and situating the CSE in a negative light.

He further indicated that the Director-General of GES, Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa has denied ever appending his signature to the CSE guidelines making round on social media.

“I don’t know how many times we should make this point, but we are forcing it under the throat of the Ghana Education Service Director that he has signed a document that is supposed to be the guideline for the implementation of the CSE.

“I want to bring out the hypocrisy of Sam George and other colleagues who are making the point that the CSE that they are making so much noise about as if it is so wrong, they have to know that this is something that in 2016 they themselves introduced.

“I have the document in my hand and that document is a sourcebook for teachers. It was signed by the Director-General of the GES in 2016, a man called Jacob A. Kor, who signed that sourcebook that teachers are supposed to be using that sourcebook or if you like, resource pack to be able to teach first cycle education institutions in the country,” he said.

Making reference to the said document purported to be signed by Mr kor, Mr Asafoa read; “Like millions of children around the world, Ghana’s adolescents and young people need accurate and comprehensive education about sexuality” adding that “this is a document I have in my hand.”

He further described as complete falsehood claims by the minority that the government of Ghana has received some 22 million dollars for the implementation of the controversial CSE.

He stressed that neither the Ministry of Education nor any of its agencies has received any amount from any source in connection with the CSE.

The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George in an interview on the same show alleged the CSE is being funded by the Swedish government and the government of Ghana has signed up to it and has received 22 million US Dollars for its implementation.

But Mr Asafoa denied it outrightly.

“The ministry of education has not received any amount of money, supposedly GHø22 million that is supposed to be used for the said allegations. We have not received a pesewa and if Sam George is alleging that we have some amount of money the onus lies him for him to give evidence,” he stated.

The introduction of CSE has been met with fierce opposition with the believe by many that it is a subtle way to introduce the practice of gayism, lesbianism, bisexuality and transgender in the country.

But the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service and some of its related agency have however denied such claims, stressing that it has not yet been incorporated in the syllables.
