A man from Old Tafo suburb in Eastern Region was left nursing a bleeding leg after he was shot once for allegedly having a relationship with a miner’s talented girlfriend.
Narrating the incident to GhanaWish.com, Solomon who is 25 years of age said he was invited by his friend Maxwell who is a miner for a beer binge at his home in South Tafo.
While they were drinking, they were later joined by Maxwell’s friends.
“It was on Monday last week when we started drinking alcohol at around 1pm and by 8pm we were too drunk when Maxwell phoned his girlfriend, but she refused to come.
“He accused me of having influenced her not to come and in the midst of the altercation he lost his temper and hit me with open hands,” said Solomon.
Sensing danger, Solomon took to his heels, but Maxwell reached for a gun in his car and shot him.
A source close to the investigation also confirmed the incident.
“He shot him once on the left leg and injured him,” said the source.
Solomon reported the matter to the police leading to Maxwell’s arrest.
Eastern Regional police spokesperson Inspector Abednico also confirmed the incident:
“I can confirm that we arrested a man who shot his suspected love rival on the left leg once. He was accusing him of having a sexual affair with his girlfriend.”
He urged community members to solve their differences amicably and also urged them to engage third parties like pastors, Victim Friendly Unit police than to take the law into their hands.
