Homosexuality: There’s nothing like that in nature, even animals don’t recognize it – Dag Heward

Founder and Presiding Bishop of the United Denomination of Light House Group of Churches, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, has expressed grave concern at the continual association and declaration of some Ghanaian youth to same sex marriage and homosexuality.

Speaking to a room filled with congregants during a sermon, the affable but candid leader described the act as unnatural, condemning it.

He recalled a trip to Kenya where he was taken on a tour to a wildlife reserve. He observed that a male antelope was followed by about seventy-four (74) females. He implied that in the animal kingdom no species has only one partner and stressed that it was absurd for humans to be drawn to the same sex.

“One time I was in Kenya and they took me to the wildlife place and they were going along and then I saw antelopes (impalas)… I counted, they were like 75. So then the guides told me: please notice that only one of them has horns… that’s the male, those are his wives… Bishop Dag narrated

Dogs, cats, leopards, mention the animal, which one has one partner. It’s just like homosexuality, you don’t have male and male. If you use that reasoning to say homosexuality is not natural. You don’t find two male dogs, or lions, impalas, cats… there’s nothing like that in nature, it’s unnatural” he explained.

There have been several attempts by first world countries to convince government to legalise same sex marriage in Ghana with threats of withdrawing aids if it isn’t passed, but the Akufo-Addo administration has stressed that it will not pass any such law during their tenure.

Former United Stated Ambassador to Ghana, Robert Jackson also called for Ghanaians to be more tolerant towards homosexuality since there were more people in the country with that sexuality than they let on. He further noted that he hoped that Ghana accepts homosexuality in the next decade.
