Ghana celebrates its 64th independence anniversary. Here are some of Ghana’s achievements in 64 years after independence:
•Ghana remains one of the major countries in Africa,
•Ghana has introduced National Health Insurance Scheme which ensures citizens have free access to health,
•Ghana has introduced Livelihood Employment Against Poverty (LEAP) which ensures its poorest citizens have monthly allowances to cater for their expenses,
•Ghana has introduced Free Education at the senior high levels which has expanded access to education for millions of poor people,
•Ghana has introduced Capitation Grants in the primary level of education, which covers expenses pupils may be required to pay in their various schools,
•Ghana provides free food to pupils at the primary levels of education which ensures students are not denied education because of hunger,
•Ghana has Students’ Loan Schemes for every university student which ensures poor citizens have access to the means to continue their education at higher levels,
•Ghana has become the natural epicenter of pilgrimage of black people around the world trying to reconnect to their roots.
•Ghana has offered citizenships to black people in the diaspora,
•Ghana has universal coverage of electricity,
•Ghana exports electricity and water to its neighbors,
•Ghana is the biggest producer of gold in Africa,
•Ghana is the 2nd biggest producer of cocoa in the world,
•Ghana has become one of the leading producers of oil in Africa (among the top 10 countries),
•Ghana has intervened in many wars in neighboring countries, including Cote D’voire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia among others,
•Ghana is one of the leading contributors of UN’s peace keeping forces,
•Ghana has the 2nd biggest economy in West Africa,
•Ghana has become a Middle Income Country.
