GRA introduces new taxes on electricity, barely a month after Akuffo-Addo’s 3 months “free electricity” speech.

Hardly a month after announcing a 50% reduction on Electricity consumption for a duration of 3 months using March Benchmark consumption figures, the Akufo-Addo led government has turn around to introduce additional three new taxes on electricity consumers…

In a letter dated 4th May, 2020, the Ghana Revenue Authority has directed the Energy Sector SOEs to commence Charging Electricity consumers GETFUND Levy of 2.5%, NHIL Levy of 2.5% and VAT of 12.5% respectively.
