The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) claims the European Union (EU) Observer Mission, that monitored the 2020 elections and declared Ghana as a strong democracy in Africa, is biased towards the ruling NPP.
Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Peter Buamah Otokunor, believes the EU Observer Mission failed to include their concerns about the elections in their report.
To this end, the NDC says they will demand an amendment to the European Union election observation report at a meeting with the EU delegation.
According to the NDC, the delegation deliberately ignored the killing of seven people during the polls in order to whitewash the image of the NPP government. Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Peter Buamah Otokunor says the delegation must include the party’s concerns.
“We know the EU Observer Mission is biased. We can see it on their final report. We wonder why they did not include our concerns at all,” he stated.

Founding member of the NDC, Goosie Tanoh says Ghana is in crisis as a result of insecurity, extreme poverty and other social challenges.
Speaking on the theme, Securing NDCs Future at a programme organized by some NDC affiliated groups, he stated Ghana needs a party that can provide solutions to the challenges, this he says the NDC can do with a united front.
“I believe the NDC can deal with the issues in the country. I believe the NDC has the power to become the dominant force in the time to come. We must deal with the ills of the country,” he stated.
So far, it is expected that John Mahama will lead the party in the 2024 general elections. The Communications officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi, revealed in an interview with the media that John Mahama is still the best pick for the party in the 2024 elections.
But there are internal wrangling within the party as the Former Deputy General Secretary of the main opposition NDC has alleged that the former president, John Dramani Mahama, hated John Evans Atta Mills.
According to the expelled member of the NDC, Mahama failed to construct a road infront of the Atta-Mills Institute because he hates the former president of blesses memory.
“Why did John Dramani Mahama hate his boss President John Atta-Mills and extended the hate to Koku Anyidohu? Why did John Mahama refuse to build the Asomdwe Park? Let the world know that I do not hate JM; he hates me because of my loyalty to President Atta Mills,” he expressed.
Developments in the NPP
Meanwhile, investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, believes now is the time for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to consider Bawumia as the running mate for the 2024 general elections. His reason is that the Vice President and wife have sacrificed like a donkey for the party.
“The Bawumia’s have worked like donkeys during the campaigns and we have tangible results to show for their sweat in certain identifiable electoral quarters. He is part of the reason many of us have enjoyed or will enjoy the power and its trappings in the eight years,” he stated.
