President Akufo-Addo has just been coffered with a Doctorate Degree by one of Ghana’s highly ranked Tertiary institutions, University of Cape Coast.
While many congratulatory messages are flowing, there are some also who are questioning if the President deserves his latest recognition which according to the University’s Chancellor, is based on his Contribution to the education sector.
“For our president’s outstanding, pioneering role introducing the free SHS policy was a major criterion for his selection. This policy has expanded access to Senior High School and paved the way for many young Ghanaians who otherwise would not have been able to afford SHS education.” UCC chancellor stated at the Congregation.
Reacting to the news in the comments section of Cbgist.com Facebook page, some citizens strongly believes the education sector has not improved under the current President even with the introduction of free SHS.
“Now all the education system and sectors turn beans 🙉🤔🙄” George wrote
Some also argued that, Implementation of the Free Secondary Education alone does not qualify the president for a high standard award if the entire education system is messed up because the Free SHS wouldn’t have been celebrated if the economy is good enough for people to get money and pay their fees of their pupils.
