Ghanaians who travelled to Dubai in search of greener pastures have met with the harsh realities of life and now wish to be returned to their homes in Ghana.
More than 200 of these stranded travellers in Dubai have called on the government to help them return to their families back in Ghana.
In an interview with Kofi TV,some of these stranded travellers narrated their frustration and predicament. According to one affected lady, she has had to sleep on the streets under very unhygienic conditions and without a proper place to lay her head.
“We are Ghanaian women. Some of us have been here for two years and I’ve been here for about a year and a half and I’m not getting any work to do. Its haram here for a lady to sleep outside so someone sleeps with you. We don’t have anywhere to sleep,or bath or anything to eat. We are also ladies, and when we menstruate it is terrible. We went to the consulate to speak to them, they say they don’t have money for us. We need the government to help us”,she lamented.
Another brother who shared his plights feared death if the needed help is not extended soon enough. He said,”we would be dead by June if the government doesn’t help us,we need help. Just like the Kuwait government help the deportees, our government should help us”.
