National Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammi Awuku says if officials of the Electoral Commission had torn the picture of John Dramani Mahama during the election, the NDC would have burnt Ghana.
During the December 7 election, an electoral officials in Bawku in the Upper East region was caught tearing off the picture of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from the Ballot paper.
The NPP peacefully called on the electoral commission to deal with the issue which was resolved and sanity returned to the electoral process.
But speaking in an interview with Accra-based Citi Sammi Awuku who is affectionately called Capo by a section of NPP youth said Ghana would have been up in flames if the NDC’s that happened to the NDC candidate.
He said “If you had Mr Mahama’s picture which had been torn from the ballot paper and this happened in some constituencies I’m sure you saw copies of that. If it had happened to the NDC’s Presidential Candidate, I’m sure they would have burnt the country by then”.
Sammi Awuku Continued “that is why I’m saying that if it had happened to our brothers on the other side, they would have added all these things and proceed to the UN”.
He indicated that the NPP with its political maturity raised an alarm because the party was committed to a peaceful election, filed a compliant for an investigation which was conducted with persons involved brought to book.
