Ghana sick, church sick, economy sick – Kwabena Donkor

Former Minister of Power, Dr Kwabena Donkor, has said Ghana is sick in so many ways.

Preaching at the Pentecost International Worship Centre, Kokomlemle in Accra on Saturday, 20 April 2019, the opposition lawmaker relied on 2 Chronicles 7:14 to ask for healing for the nation.

That bible verse says: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.

“The emphasis on healing the land: ‘I will heal the land’”, Dr Donkor said, observing: “This land is sick, this land is sick, Ghanaian politics is sick, the Ghanaian Church is sick, the Ghanaian economy is sick, the Ghanaian social sector is sick”.

“And there is only one source of healing: if we’ll humble ourselves and acknowledge that we’re sick, acknowledge that we’ve missed it”.

He asserted that “the inheritance of the black man in the Bible is not poverty”, explaining: “Joseph of Arimathea was a black man, he provided accommodation for the body of our Lord. The father-in-law of Moses sat Moses down and brought order, Moses was sitting and listening to thousands of cases a day, his father-in-law, who is African, counselled him and they brought management [and] leadership to the nation of Israel. If you go into history, the inheritance of the black man in the Bible is not poverty”.

The Pru East MP said: “Our generation has no right to bequeath the current level of underdevelopment to the next generation. We absolutely have no right”.
