Interim coach of Nigeria, Augustine Eguavoen has ruled out Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles will host the Black Stars in the second leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Tuesday, March 29.
Eguavoen led his men to hold the four time African champions to a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday and the ex-Super Eagles defender believes Nigeria will go past Ghana to qualify.
“It’s a team [Ghana] that’s in process but they have to wait for another time. “This time around I think Nigeria will excel and be in Qatar.” Augustine Eguavoen said in a post match press conference.
Ghana are eying a return to the global tournament after missing out on the 2018 edition in Russia with Nigeria chasing a fourth consecutive appearance. Both countries had a poor outing at the 2021 AFCON where Ghana exited at the group stage with Nigeria dropping out from the round 16.
