The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has for the second time won the prestigious award of Best Government Use of Social Media (Citizen Engagement) at the last Ghana Information Technology & Telecom Awards (GITTA) held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra over the weekend.
The Award is in recognition of GPS’s outstanding service, innovation and tireless efforts in engaging citizens through the use of Social Media.
This year’s event which was held on June 28, 2019, also saw His Excellency the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Mahammudu Bawumia adjudged the Digital Leader of the Year.
GITTA is an annual event organized by Instinct Wave in partnership with Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication, to recognize outstanding products and diverse innovations that keep the ICT & Telecom Sector thriving and also companies and people who make the industry great.
Since 2016, the GPS has been active on Twitter and Facebook with over 180, 000 followers keeping us on “our toes”. The Inspector-General of Police has therefore dedicated the Award to GPS followers and partners of social media.
