Ghana Education Service List Mahama’s Community Day Schools to change to boarding Schools

The Director General of the Ghana Education Service GES, Professor Akwasi Opoku Amankwa and the management of the Service has successfully inspected and satified some day and community schools without boarding status to have one.

The previous government initiated and built some Community day School project. The project was to help students in some rural areas to have access to senior high schools without traveling to the urban centres. However, the project was excluded boarding facilities but rather practicing day status.

Furthermore, the free Senior High School implementation also gave rise to overcrowding problem in senior High School across Ghana so far as accommodation is concern. This led to the introduction of double track system to help accommodation many students. The government decided to build boarding facilities in said community Senior High Schools which were built by the previous government to have boarding status.

The management of the Ghana Education Service on the 7th of April 2021 started inspecting some senior High School which has completed some of their boarding facilities projects. The green light has been given to 11 senior high schools who has completed their boarding facilities to start accommodating boarding students. The approval has been given to the following schools to run as day/boarding schools.

1. Sankor Senior High School- Western

2. New Kokompe Senior High School- Bono East

3. The Manhean senior High School- Greater Accra

4. Academy of Christ the King- Central

5. Gyaase Community Senior High School- Central

6. Awutu Bawjiase Senior High School- Central

7. Siddiqui community senior high school- central

8. Baglo Ridge Senior High technical School- Oti

9. Biakoye Community Senior high School- Oti

10. J A Kuffour Senior High School- Ashanti

11. St. Michael Technical Vocational School- Ashanti

The Ghana Education Service GES has said to the regional directors to liase with the heads of the above schools to ensure that relevant stuffs are posted to their respective schools.
