Free water supply for Ghanaians ends tomorrow – Ghana Water Company reminds

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) is reminding Ghanaians of the sudden end of the free supply of water which was initiated by the government as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 tomorrow.

President Akufo-Addo in March announced a three-month free supply of water to all Ghanaians which was to cover the months of April, May and June.

For that reason, the GWCL in a statement is reminding all Ghanaians to expect to start paying for their water supply after June the 30th.

Part of the statement read:

“The month of June marks the end of the Governments directive to the Ghana Water Company Limited to serve Ghanaians with water for free as part of measures to curb the rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Customers of GWCL must please note, that from hence, the payment of water bills will be the responsibility of the customer.”

“The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, and the Management of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) therefore wishes to inform consumers and the general public that the last day of June 2020, officially ends the free water delivery.”
