One thing Ghanaians can’t easily forget about President Akuffo Addo even a decade after his demise happens to be the introduction of free Senior High School (S.H.S). It’s one policy by the incumbent government the opposition party (N.D.C) will love to hate any day.
Somewhere last year at the 4th National Policy Summit which took place inside Tamale, Vice-president Bawumia asserted that the free S.H.S has saved and will continue to save the parents of beneficiary students thousands of Ghana cedis.
But to the rightful thinking of Michael Afrane, a seasoned Kumawood actor, the hyped free S.H.S policy is nothing but a curse in disguise on the part of parents. Speaking to Leticia Asante of Lit TV fame, the actor lamented on the whopping amount pushed into vacation classes by parents
“The free S.H.S isn’t entirely bad but the president got everything wrong in reference to the implementation – timing. Although my kid is enjoying but in reality, I’m spending more on vacation classes which wasn’t like that when parents used to pay school fees”, Michael Afrane revealed.
He added that, Akuffo Addo and the entire N.P.P fraternity shouldn’t boast of the free S.H.S policy because whatever amount of money invested in the project is financed by Ghanaians.
“Ghanaians are financing the whole project. Do you think Akuffo Addo will use his pocket or grandparents’ money to foot the supposed free S.H.S bill?”, he quizzed.
Michael Afrane who doubles as a staunch National Democratic Congress (N.D.C) member sounded optimistic that John Mahama led N.D.C government will take power from the incumbent government coming 2020 general election.
